The Elliot L. Whitaker Traveling Fellowship was established in 1970 with gifts from members of the faculty and friends in recogntion of Mr. Whitaker's 20 years of service as Director of the School of Architecture.

The KSA Architecture Research Travel Awards (ARTA) were established to encourage independent travel by architecture students.

2007


In 2007, Jeffrey Squire received the fellowship and traveled to Italy, the Czech Republic, Germany, Austria, Switzerland, and France to visit historic and contemporary architectural works.

Whitaker Traveling Fellowship

In 2007, five architecture students received ARTA funding to travel to San Diego, Beijing, Shanghai, Rome, and Copenhagen. Student presentations followed on November 5-6, 2007.

2006


In 2006, Sabrina Sierawski received the Elliot L. Whitaker Traveling Fellowship and traveled to the west coast in the United States to visit works utilizing sustainable design strategies.

2005


In 2005, Timothy Crowther received the Elliot L. Whitaker Traveling Fellowship, which supported travel to Portugal and Spain to see architectural works by Alvaro Siza, Edgar Cardoso, Eduardo Souto de Moura, Rem Koolhaas and others.



2004


In 2004, Natalie Martinez and Dan Carney received the Elliot L. Whitaker Traveling Fellowship, which supported travel to Switzerland to document Peter Zumthor's works.
